Tyler Ross – Certified Autism Technician, Grace International School, Chiang Mai, Thailand
This Fall 2019 I will be returning to Thailand to serve at Grace International School (GIS), the missionary kid’s school that I graduated from. This decision caused an unexpected turn in my life, but I truly feel as though God is leading me on the path that I need to be on, and I feel called to take advantage of this opportunity. Despite the fear of the unknown, I’m excited to start this new chapter of my life and live out God’s plan for me.
What Will I Be Doing?
For the 2019-2020 school year, I will be joining GIS’ Educational Support Department. GIS is unique among MK schools as they have the vision to have a strong educational support program so that missionaries with children who need support can still serve on the field. The school is seeing more and more students with educational needs, and because of that, the department is growing and they need people with experience. I will be helping out in the Educational Support classroom, working one-on-one with students, and training the other staff in behavior therapy. My plan is to serve for one year.
Why Am I Going?
As an alumnus of GIS, I’m eager to give back to the school that was such a huge part of my life. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it. In addition to this, for the last 2 years, I’ve been working at CARD (Center for Autism and Related Disorders) doing behavior therapy for children with autism. As a Board-Certified Autism Technician and a Trainer, I have skills that no other staff person at GIS has. The timing is perfect (for both me and the school) for me to spend the next year serving the Lord in a place that I love with the gifts and skills the Lord has given me.
How Can You Help?
Without your prayers and support, this opportunity will not be possible. In order to keep tuition affordable for missionaries, all GIS staff is not paid a salary, and therefore staff needs to join a sending organization and raise their own financial support.
Thank you for your interest in supporting my ministry thorough Ripe for Harvest!
