We are Lameck and Kelsey Akugizbwe. We currently live and serve the Lord Jesus in Uganda, Africa and were married June 29, 2019. Lameck was born and raised in Fort Portal, Uganda. Lameck came to faith in Christ at a young age when he began to grow in intercession ministry and a rich understanding of the Word of God. Lameck is passionate about serving and preaching the true Word of God to God’s Church. He has been preaching since he was 18 years old. He is currently pursuing his degree to become a medical doctor at Kampala International University and is in his final year. Lameck has always been passionate about using medicine to offer medical services to the needy.
Kelsey was born in Florida and raised in Michigan. She first had a dream and desire of being with children in Africa at the age of 13. She came to know Christ during university and then began praying God would send her to work with children in Africa if this was His will for her life. After completing university with a degree in social work she worked in a family preservation program where her passion grew more to help hurting families. While working as a social worker Kelsey went with her local church in Detroit in 2016 on a mission trip to Uganda for the first time. It was there God confirmed a call on her life to move to Uganda full time as a missionary, and she moved to Uganda in 2017.
God has entrusted us with a ministry to children and families headed by single mama’s in local villages nearby our current home in Western Uganda. Some of these mothers were abandoned by their alcoholic husbands, and others have husbands with multiple wives thereby neglecting to care for their children. We are passionate about loving the lost, overlooked, and forgotten. God has given us a vision to disciple one child, knowing children make up families, and families make up the church. We are building Christ-centered relationships to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of these families. We are currently ministering by discipling vulnerable families by supporting them through school sponsorship for the education of their children, providing food each month to the families, and assisting with basic medical care. We have also helped other children in the past who are malnourished, taking others to hospital for medical treatment and minor surgeries, and at times caring for children who are in the care of their elderly grandparents.
Lameck and Kelsey have a long-term vision to begin a church, open a refugee home for children, open a school, and begin a hospital.
We are grateful to each partner the Lord gives us in our ministry. Together we are better for His kingdom and His glory!
