Aaron and Karyn met at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas while both pursuing Youth Ministry degrees. They served as co-youth directors in Montana after Karyn graduated. They later moved back to Arkansas where they served at a church for 15 years. Aaron worked as youth pastor, family pastor and then directional leader. Karyn has over 10 years of experience as an administrative assistant in churches and non-profits. They have been doing ministry together for over 20 years. They have three children: Jonas, Elyssa and Micah.
Aaron and Karyn Beckner work with underprivileged children who live in the red-light district of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their after-school children’s center is called TawSaeng, which means “to shine” in Thai. TawSaeng provides children a safe place to come after while their parents are working, many, multiple jobs. The children receive a nutritious meal, tutoring and help with homework, the opportunity to learn English, hear Bible stories, participate in worship, play games and much more. This ministry also provides opportunity to intentionally reach out to the children’s families and the local community with the gospel and shine the light of Jesus in a dark land.
